    Duda Sans: Aligning product and brand through typography

  • Duda was using multiple fonts across product (Roboto, Source Sans Pro) and marketing (Montserrat), creating visual inconsistency. What started as a design team concern about outdated typography evolved into a six-month investment in creating Duda Sans - a custom variable font with weights from 100 to 900.

    The project involved learning GlyphsApp, manual kerning, multi-language support for 10 languages, and balancing product clarity with marketing impact.
    While I left before full implementation, the project taught me how foundational typography decisions shape product, brand, and consistency at scale.

The platform combines visual editing tools with powerful data and customization capabilities, allowing teams to move faster while maintaining consistency across projects.

  • As products grow and teams scale, small design decisions tend to compound. Typography, spacing, and layout choices that once felt minor start to influence usability, perception, and trust. A well-designed system fades into the background, supporting clarity and focus rather than competing for attention. When done right, the interface feels predictable and cohesive, giving users confidence that the product will behave as expected.
